African National Human Rights Institutions Commit to Leveraging African Human Rights Instruments and Jurisprudence for Stronger Protection and Implementation

The Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) successfully concluded its 15th Biennial Conference, held in Yaoundé, Cameroon, on 5–6 February 2026, in collaboration with the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CDHC).
Convened in accordance with Article 56 of the NANHRI Statute, the Biennial Conference was preceded by the Network’s General Assembly on 4 February 2026 and served as a continental platform for strategic reflection, peer exchange, and the adoption of Yaoundé Declaration.
The Conference was organised under the theme “The Original Features of African Human Rights Instruments and Jurisprudence,” with the specific objective of leveraging African human rights instruments and jurisprudence to strengthen the realisation of human rights, while highlighting the strategic role of African National Human Rights Institutions.
